Got a tip? Email me and I'll put it online with a credit to you.

Did I say *adventure*???? Packing up my life and home in one town and putting it all into storage, then driving 3,000km [approx 2,000 miles] south to Sydney, to start a new life ... with my Burmese cat Mooshie in the car with me.

Did I have her in a portable carry box? No. I just let her cling for dear life to the top of the suitcases in my little car as we bumped over bad roads, around big curves and up steep mountains and hill.

I'm sure she'd like to write a book about her adventures!

Once I was on the road, my goal was to drive safely and arrive unscathed. I spent 5 days on the road, staying in motels twice then with friends the other two nights, advancing on my new life, bit by bit.

It was fascinating to see the terrain change, from the 130,000 population in a palm fronded tropical north town with sugar canes and coconut trees, eventually arriving in a city of 4 million people, on the brink of winter. My poor toes didn't know what hit them!

So I'm happily ensconsed in a friend's home for the next month, till I work out where I want to live, and then I can set up the Studio again. I'll have to be happy with sketching and sighing over silk on the internet.

:o>

Being in a cold climate after 2 years of non-stop heat and sun, makes my mind turn to warmer silk outfits, and I have the seeds of ideas floating around my brain, double thickness jackets, or even a wool coat or top ... did you know that silk paints and dyes work on wool as well?

I plan to spend some time zipping around in my little purple Piaf car, checking out fabric stores, in search of fine knit silk weave and wool to paint on - what fun!

There's a selection of bits and pieces this month which I hope you'll find interesting. I would also like to send a big warm welcome to our new subscribers this month, from around the globe - join in and keep in touch, let us all know what you're up to!

A question for you ...

Would any of you be interested in a silk textile online Forum where you could ask questions and get to meet each other?

I have set up a forum for my computer business which is working quite nicely, and I thought that perhaps it might be something which would be of great benefit to the Members and visitors to AustralianSilkworm. If you want to see what I mean, have a squizz at my other website Forum by clicking here.

So ... enough from me, let's get reading!

Cheers

WOW! How excited was *I* to be interviewed by Diane Tuckman of the USA! She planned an article in Silk Painters International [SPIN] Newsletter about me, which has now been published.

If you're a Member of SPIN, you will have received your copy by now.

Speaking of SPIN, did you know I'm the Webmistress? I have just finished a total overhaul of the SPIN website, and I have used the Web Builder from my BuildAWebsiteTonight business. Have a squizz and let me know what you think - I wanted something to *grab* people's attention ... did I succeed? Check it out by clicking here.

I was surfing the internet and came across this remarkable chap who paints on silk ... by holding the brush in his mouth.

JP is a tetraplegic, and does remarkable work!

Not only does he paint on silk, but he also paints on canvas and is a skilled artist in many ther media.

Iceland :: SigrunLara Shanko

I met silk artist Sigrun Lara Shanko online a couple of years ago, and we became friends - from the northern arctic to Australia in the Antipodes! We met in person in Santa Fe last year and what a treat that was!

Sigrun has such a wonderful warm personality and creates beautiful silk paintings and wallhangings. Please have a look at her website if you get time - she specialises in dragons as one of her themes.

News from around the World

I gather info on articles which appear anywhere online - sometimes I check them all out, sometimes I don't have time to. You will find the word *silk* in each of them, sometimes *silk painting* sometimes *handpainted silk*. Sometimes the article might not have anything to do with silk painting, but it might be interesting anyway - be adventurous!

Some newspaper sites ask you to become a member - for free - in order to read their articles. The choice is yours. To find the word SILK in each webpage you go to, select EDIT / FIND from your top browser menu.
