What an arty farty month I've had!

At the end of June I met up with my good friend Vivienne, a fellow textile artist, and we explored the Australian Craft Fair [held at Sydney Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney from June 22-26, 2005].

We walked our little feet off, exploring more than 200 stalls from quilting supplies, to magazine publishers, textile suppliers ... amazing collection of retailers and artists!

You can check out the website at CraftFair.com.au [link opens in a new window].

You can see the craft fair in other States of Australia:

July 28 : Melbourne
August 11 : Canberra
September 22 : Hamilton, New Zealand
October 19 : Brisbane
November 3 : Adelaide
2006
March 24 : Gold Coast

After several coffees and deserved rests for our tired little tootsies, we had the great fortune to meet several textile artists who had articles in the Wearable Art Exhibition [including the famous Lynne Britten who is a very talented textile artist!]. Another highlight was to meet several other silk artists whome I have heard of, or emailed with, over several years, so for me this was the highlight of the day.

I have also rejoined ATASDA - the Australian Textile Arts and Surface Design Association - and nw I have a group of other textile artists to become involved with. Website: ATASDA.org.au [link opens in a new window].

Thanks too for all your emails about our own Silk Forum which could be part of this website. I have taken all your ideas and suggestions on board, and will start working on this soon.

Let's enjoy the month of July, as time slowly moves forward towards the end of the year ... has anyone started Christmas projects yet? For friends & family, or for selling your work? Let us know what you're working on.

Ciao for now, happy painting and creating, one and all,

News from around the World

I gather info on articles which appear anywhere online - sometimes I check them all out, sometimes I don't have time to. You will find the word *silk* in each of them, sometimes *silk painting* sometimes *handpainted silk*. Sometimes the article might not have anything to do with silk painting, but it might be interesting anyway - be adventurous!

Some newspaper sites ask you to become a member - for free - in order to read their articles. The choice is yours. To find the word SILK in each webpage you go to, select EDIT / FIND from your top browser menu.
